# Online Marketplaces in Poland 2026: Allegro, Amazon, Kaufland & Co. Compared

Which platforms matter in Poland, what they cost and how to get started as a seller from abroad.

## Table of Content

In February 2026, something happened in Poland that long seemed unthinkable: according to reach data from Gemius/PBI Mediapanel, Temu reached [more people than Allegro](https://www.wiadomoscihandlowe.pl/e-commerce-i-e-grocery/temu-wciaz-przed-allegro-dane-mediapanelu-2533126). Six months later, the picture looks different again. Since July 1, 2026, the EU has charged a €3 customs duty on low-value parcels from non-EU countries, and in August 2026 Allegro was clearly back ahead of Temu, with 18.5 million users per month versus 12.8 million, according to [Mediapanel](https://www.bankier.pl/wiadomosc/Kolejny-miesiac-slabych-wynikow-chinskich-platform-Mediapanel-9193529.html). The story shows two things: Polish e-commerce is fiercely competitive, and in the end, the winners are those who deliver fast, reliably and locally. Here you will find out which online marketplaces in Poland matter in 2026, what they cost and what to keep in mind when you get started.

**Key takeaways**

- Allegro is the undisputed market leader: 15.6 million people in Poland have bought there at least once in the last twelve months. For most brands, Allegro is the first channel.
- Amazon.pl, Kaufland.pl, Empik and Erli are the most important alternatives, plus specialists such as Zalando, Decathlon and Media Expert.
- Temu was the big challenger in early 2026, but has been losing reach significantly since the new EU duty on low-value parcels from non-EU countries.
- Product listings for Polish customers have to be in Polish. Allegro only accepts listings in Polish anyway.
- Parcel lockers and BLIK are standard in Poland: 83% of online shoppers have orders delivered to lockers, and 72% pay with BLIK.
- If you store stock in Poland, you deliver faster and have a Polish returns address, but you need a VAT registration in Poland.

## Polish e-commerce in numbers

Poland shops online, and more so every year. According to the Polish statistics office [GUS](https://stat.gov.pl/obszary-tematyczne/nauka-i-technika-spoleczenstwo-informacyjne/spoleczenstwo-informacyjne/spoleczenstwo-informacyjne-w-polsce-w-2025-r-,2,15.html), 69.7% of people aged 16 to 74 shopped online in 2025, 2.3 percentage points more than the year before. The [Gemius report “E-commerce w Polsce 2025”](https://gemius.com/documents/81/RAPORT_E-COMMERCE_2025.pdf) puts the share of internet users who shop online at 78%.

Revenue is growing fast, too. In August 2026, online sales accounted for 9.0% of retail sales according to GUS, up from 8.1% a year earlier. Online sales rose 17.5% year on year. Worth noting for context: these statistics only cover retailers based in Poland, so foreign platforms such as Temu or Shein are not included.

And marketplaces are at the heart of this growth. Allegro alone handled goods worth almost PLN 70 billion in 2025. There are three habits of Polish customers you should know from day one:

- **Parcel lockers instead of doorsteps:** 83% of online shoppers have orders delivered to parcel lockers. Our overview of [parcel carriers in Poland](https://blog.getbyrd.com/en/poland-top-parcel-shipping-providers-in-ecommerce?hsLang=en) shows who is behind them.
- **BLIK instead of cards:** 72% pay with BLIK, the Polish payment method that runs through banking apps.
- **Smartphone first:** 82% shop on their smartphone, and among 15 to 24 year olds it is 91%.

Good news for brands from abroad: 41% of Polish internet users also buy from foreign online shops, up from 36% a year earlier (all three figures: Gemius 2025).

## What is an online marketplace?

An online marketplace is a platform on which many independent sellers sell their products to consumers. The marketplace provides reach, payment processing and often shipping options, while the sellers supply the product range. Price comparison sites such as Ceneo and pure classifieds sites are not counted as marketplaces in this article, but we introduce them briefly below.

## The top online marketplaces in Poland at a glance

| Marketplace | Size (per platform) | Strong in | For EU sellers |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Allegro** | 15.6 million active buyers in Poland (June 2026) | All categories | Yes, listings in Polish |
| **Amazon.pl** | No figures published | All categories | Yes, via Amazon Seller Central Europe |

| **Erli** | PLN 1.8 billion GMV, 34,000 active sellers (2025) | Broad range | Ask Erli directly |
| **Zalando** | Around 52 million active customers in Europe | Fashion, shoes, accessories | Yes, via the Partner Program |
| **Decathlon** | Around 398,000 items from partners (Sept. 2026) | Sports and outdoor | Selected brands |
| **Media Expert & Morele** | Media Expert: 12.3 million users (May 2026) | Electronics and home appliances | Verified partners only |
| **Temu** | 12.8 million users per month (Aug. 2026, Mediapanel) | Low-price general range | No open terms published |

### 1. Allegro: Poland's market leader

![online-marketplaces-poland-2026-allegro-en](https://blog.getbyrd.com/hs-fs/hubfs/online-marketplaces-poland-2026-allegro-en.png?width=500&height=707&name=online-marketplaces-poland-2026-allegro-en.png)

If you want to sell online in Poland, there is no way around Allegro. The platform launched with its first auction in 1999 and is now by far the largest marketplace in the country. According to its [2026 half-year report](https://about.allegro.eu/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Report-and-Financial-Statements-Q2-2026.pdf), Allegro had 15.6 million active buyers in Poland at the end of June 2026, meaning people who bought there at least once in the previous twelve months. Gross merchandise value (GMV) in Poland was around PLN 35 billion in the first half of the year. According to the company, more than 160,000 sellers sell on Allegro.

Two things make Allegro special. Its loyalty program Allegro Smart!, which includes free delivery, had 7.5 million users in Poland alone in 2025. And almost one in every six złoty is financed through Allegro's own buy-now-pay-later service: in the second quarter of 2026, Allegro Pay accounted for 16.4% of GMV. On top of that, Allegro runs its own network of more than 11,000 parcel lockers under the One Box brand.

**How to get started as a seller from abroad:** Companies from the European Economic Area register with an extract from the commercial register, details of their beneficial owners and a verified bank account. Important: the [listing form only supports Polish](https://help.allegro.com/en/sell/a/offer-translations-frequently-asked-questions-3AdoR5VxBCY) as the source language. Allegro then automatically translates your listings for its marketplaces in Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. According to [Allegro's seller page](https://allegro.pl/help/sell-on-allegro), new sellers from abroad pay no sales commission for the first 90 days (as of September 2026).

**Fees:** Listings are free. You pay a commission that depends on the category and is calculated on price plus shipping. According to [Allegro](https://help.allegro.com/en/fees/en), it ranges from 2.5 to 8% for electronics, for example, from 4.5 to 11% for home & garden and from 8 to 10% for beauty.

**Smart! badge:** To earn the coveted Smart! label, you need, among other things, a good seller rating and the full set of Allegro Delivery options, meaning at least one doorstep delivery option and one pickup point or locker option. If you ship from Poland, you also need a Polish returns address. Allegro's own fulfillment service (One Fulfillment) requires a Polish VAT number.

### 2. Amazon.pl: the global challenger

![online-marketplaces-poland-2026-amazon-en](https://blog.getbyrd.com/hs-fs/hubfs/online-marketplaces-poland-2026-amazon-en.png?width=500&height=707&name=online-marketplaces-poland-2026-amazon-en.png)

Amazon arrived late in Poland: [Amazon.pl launched on March 2, 2021](https://www.aboutamazon.eu/news/press-lounge/amazon-pl-launches-in-poland) with over 100 million products, followed by Prime in October 2021. In logistics, on the other hand, Amazon has been strong in the country for years: with its new robotics site in Dobromierz, Amazon will operate twelve fulfillment centers in Poland, according to its own [announcement from March 2026](https://www.aboutamazon.eu/news/job-creation-and-investment/building-poland-amazon-announces-plans-to-invest-over-eur-5-billion-in-long-term-growth), and is investing more than €5 billion between 2026 and 2028. Amazon does not publish customer or revenue figures for Amazon.pl.

For sellers already on another European Amazon marketplace such as Amazon.de, Amazon.pl is the most obvious next step, because your account, processes and tools stay the same. According to [Amazon's fee page](https://sell.amazon.pl/oplaty), referral fees are mostly between 8 and 15% depending on the category, and the Professional plan costs PLN 165.91 net per month. In the Pan-EU program, Amazon.pl is an optional marketplace. If you prefer to handle Amazon orders yourself or through your 3PL (FBM), you keep control over inventory, packaging and shipping. You can read more about this in our article on [Amazon FBM Ship+](https://blog.getbyrd.com/en/amazon-fbm-ship-plus?hsLang=en).

### 3. Kaufland.pl: the easy add-on channel

![online-marketplaces-poland-2026-kaufland-en](https://blog.getbyrd.com/hs-fs/hubfs/online-marketplaces-poland-2026-kaufland-en.png?width=500&height=707&name=online-marketplaces-poland-2026-kaufland-en.png)

Kaufland has long been known in Poland for its stores, but the online marketplace is young: [Kaufland.pl went live on August 7, 2024](https://firma.kaufland.pl/prasa/newsroom/2024/sierpien/platforma-handlowa-kaufland-marketplace-juz-on-line), with over 2 million items at launch. For sellers already on another Kaufland storefront such as kaufland.de, Poland is an additional storefront in the same account. According to [Kaufland Global Marketplace](https://www.kauflandglobalmarketplace.com/en/conditions/), one subscription covers all countries, and commissions in Poland are lower than on the other Kaufland marketplaces: for computers and electronics, for example, 4% instead of 7%, and for furniture, home and toys 10% instead of 13%. Kaufland translates product data free of charge.

### 4. Empik: from bookseller to marketplace

![online-marketplaces-poland-2026-empik-en](https://blog.getbyrd.com/hs-fs/hubfs/online-marketplaces-poland-2026-empik-en.png?width=500&height=707&name=online-marketplaces-poland-2026-empik-en.png)

Empik is a household name in Poland, originally as a book and media retailer with around 400 stores. Today, empik.com is also a fast-growing marketplace: according to [Empik](https://news.empik.com/464879-ponad-30-tys-sprzedawcow-zarejestrowanych-na-empikcom-sprzedaz-na-marketplace-rosnie-ponad-40-proc-rr), more than 30,000 sellers are registered there, and marketplace sales exceeded PLN 1 billion for the first time in 2025 (around +40%) across 27 million listings. What makes it special: around a third of marketplace orders are picked up in Empik stores.

According to [Empik](https://www.empik.com/marketplace), companies from all EU countries can sell on the platform if they have been registered for at least one month and ship from the EU. There are no listing or account fees; you pay a commission and a platform fee per order. Empik is particularly strong in home & garden, sports, health & beauty and electronics, among others.

### 5. Erli: the Polish newcomer

![online-marketplaces-poland-2026-erli-en](https://blog.getbyrd.com/hs-fs/hubfs/online-marketplaces-poland-2026-erli-en.png?width=500&height=707&name=online-marketplaces-poland-2026-erli-en.png)

Erli launched in 2020 and has established itself as an alternative to Allegro. According to its [2025 results](https://inwestycje.pl/biznes/erli-zwiekszylo-przychody-o-54-do-2649-mln-zl-gmv-o-45-do-18-mld-zl-w-2025/), gross merchandise value grew 45% to PLN 1.8 billion, the platform had 34,000 active sellers, and in December 2025 Erli reached 10.3 million monthly users. That makes Erli the largest marketplace in Poland backed exclusively by Polish capital. Erli does not publish its terms and requirements for foreign sellers, so it is worth getting in touch directly.

### 6. Zalando: for fashion and shoes

![online-marketplaces-poland-2026-zalando-en](https://blog.getbyrd.com/hs-fs/hubfs/online-marketplaces-poland-2026-zalando-en.png?width=500&height=707&name=online-marketplaces-poland-2026-zalando-en.png)

For fashion brands, Zalando is an established player in Poland too. The [Partner Program launched in Poland in May 2018](https://corporate.zalando.com/en/company/nowa-usluga-dla-polskich-e-konsumentow-zalando-wprowadza-program-partnerski), and according to [Zalando](https://partner.zalando.com/university/article/zalando-partner-program-markets), it gives you access to around 52 million active customers in Europe. Good to know: the beauty category is not available on zalando.pl. You can find an overview of marketplaces specifically for cosmetics in our article on [cosmetics marketplaces in Europe](https://blog.getbyrd.com/en/european-marketplaces-for-cosmetic-products?hsLang=en).

### 7. Decathlon: for sports and outdoor

![online-marketplaces-poland-2026-decathlon-en](https://blog.getbyrd.com/hs-fs/hubfs/online-marketplaces-poland-2026-decathlon-en.png?width=500&height=707&name=online-marketplaces-poland-2026-decathlon-en.png)

Decathlon opened its Polish online shop to external partners in 2021. The [seller page on decathlon.pl](https://www.decathlon.pl/sprzedawcy-marketplace) lists brands such as adidas and PUMA, and in September 2026 it featured around 398,000 items from marketplace partners. For sports and outdoor brands, this makes Decathlon an exciting, focused channel. Decathlon does not publish its terms.

### 8. Media Expert and Morele: for electronics

![online-marketplaces-poland-2026-media-expert-morele-en](https://blog.getbyrd.com/hs-fs/hubfs/online-marketplaces-poland-2026-media-expert-morele-en.png?width=500&height=707&name=online-marketplaces-poland-2026-media-expert-morele-en.png)

In electronics retail, two Polish retailers have opened their shops to partners. Media Expert, one of the most visited shopping sites in the country with 12.3 million users in May 2026 according to [Mediapanel](https://interaktywnie.com/najpopularniejsze-strony-internetowe-i-aplikacje-w-polsce-wyniki-badania-mediapanel-za-maj-2026-r/), has run a marketplace for verified partners since September 2025. [Morele.net](https://lp.morele.net/marketplace) reports 5 million customers per month and over 1,500 sellers, and participation is by invitation only. Commission is charged per category, with shipping costs excluded.

### 9. Temu: the challenger from China

![online-marketplaces-poland-2026-temu-en](https://blog.getbyrd.com/hs-fs/hubfs/online-marketplaces-poland-2026-temu-en.png?width=500&height=707&name=online-marketplaces-poland-2026-temu-en.png)

Hardly any platform has shaken up Polish online retail like Temu. In the [Gemius 2025 report](https://gemius.com/documents/81/RAPORT_E-COMMERCE_2025.pdf), 32% of respondents named Temu unprompted as a shopping platform, up from 20% a year earlier. Of those who shop in foreign online stores, almost one in two (46%) has ordered from Temu. In February 2026, Temu was even ahead of Allegro in monthly reach, according to Mediapanel.

Since then, the tide has turned. Since July 1, 2026, the EU has charged a [duty of €3 per item category](https://commission.europa.eu/news-and-media/news/ensuring-fairness-and-safety-eur3-customs-duty-low-value-parcels-2026-06-29_en) on parcels from non-EU countries with a value of up to €150. In August 2026, Temu still reached 12.8 million users, according to Mediapanel. On top of that comes regulatory pressure: in May 2026, the European Commission imposed a [fine of €200 million](https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_26_1178) under the Digital Services Act, and in January 2026 the Polish consumer protection authority [UOKiK](https://uokik.gov.pl/obnizka-jaka-jest-kazdy-widzi-niekoniecznie-najnizsza-cena-z-30-dni-przed-obnizka-kary-dla-zalando-i-temu) fined Temu around PLN 5.9 million for misleading information about discounts.

**What does this mean for you?** For European brands, Temu is mainly a competitor for attention and price rather than an obvious sales channel: the platform relies primarily on sellers from China, and Temu does not publish open terms for European brands. Still, the lesson from the Temu boom is valuable. Polish customers respond strongly to price and low-cost shipping. If you can also win them over with your brand, quality and fast in-country delivery, you are well positioned.

## Also good to know: AliExpress, OLX, Vinted & Co.

Some platforms have huge reach in Poland but are only a limited sales channel for European brands:

- **AliExpress:** According to [Similarweb](https://www.similarweb.com/top-websites/poland/e-commerce-and-shopping/marketplace/), one of the marketplaces with the highest reach in Poland, but like Temu it relies mainly on sellers from China.
- **Shein:** According to [Wirtualnemedia](https://www.wirtualnemedia.pl/artykul/shein-otwiera-marketplace-dla-polskich-marek-i-detalistow), the fashion retailer opened its marketplace to Polish brands as well in April 2025.
- **OLX:** Number two in Polish shopping traffic according to [Similarweb](https://www.similarweb.com/top-websites/poland/e-commerce-and-shopping/), but mainly a classifieds and second-hand platform.
- **Vinted:** Very popular in Poland for second-hand fashion. However, according to [Vinted](https://www.vinted.com/help/3/918-vinted-pro-service), its business seller program Vinted Pro is not available in Poland.
- **Ceneo:** Poland's best-known price comparison site belongs to the Allegro Group and drives a lot of traffic to online shops.
- **Sinsay:** The fashion brand of the Polish LPP Group [launched its own marketplace in September 2026](https://www.lpp.com/informacje-prasowe/grupa-lpp-uruchamia-marketplace-sinsay/), initially in Poland and for verified partners.

## What to clarify before you launch in Poland

**Polish language.**
Polish language law requires offers, product information, warranty terms and instructions for consumers in Poland to be available in Polish. Versions in other languages are only allowed in addition. So plan translations and Polish-speaking customer service from the start.

**VAT.**
If you ship from another EU country, the EU-wide distance selling threshold of €10,000 applies. Above it, Polish VAT is due, which you can report via the [One-Stop Shop (OSS) scheme](https://vat-one-stop-shop.ec.europa.eu/one-stop-shop_en). If you store goods in Poland, you need a VAT registration in Poland.

**Product safety.**
The EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) has applied since December 13, 2024. Among other things, online listings must include details of the manufacturer and the responsible person in the EU, as well as safety warnings in a language customers understand. Under the Digital Services Act, marketplaces also verify the identity of their sellers, so keep your commercial register extract and company details at hand.

**Withdrawal and returns.**
As elsewhere in the EU, Polish consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal. Easy returns, ideally via parcel lockers, are a real selling point in Poland.

These points are no substitute for legal or tax advice, but they give you a good checklist for your first conversation.

## Ship from your existing warehouse or store stock in Poland?

To get started, you can serve Polish marketplace orders from your existing warehouse in another EU country. That is quick to set up, but it means longer transit times and often higher shipping costs. Speed matters, especially on Allegro: customers compare delivery times directly in search results, and for the Smart! badge you need the full range of delivery options.

With stock in Poland, the picture changes. You deliver like a local shop, use the parcel locker networks of Polish carriers and automatically have a Polish returns address. In return, you need a Polish VAT registration and a clear overview of which stock is where. That is why many sellers start with one marketplace or one product line in Poland and build from there.

## How byrd supports you in Poland

byrd operates a fulfillment location in Poland and connects it to your sales channels: orders from Allegro, Kaufland.pl, Empik and Amazon.pl (FBM) can be connected to byrd and fulfilled from Poland, for example via [ChannelEngine](https://www.channelengine.com/en/marketplaces/allegro), which supports all four marketplaces, or via Billbee for Amazon.pl. Orders placed by 5:30 pm (local time) ship the same day, with DHL and GLS within Poland, with DHL to Germany and with GLS to the other EU markets. Returns come back to the Polish warehouse, where they are checked and restocked.

## Frequently asked questions about online marketplaces in Poland

**What is the largest online marketplace in Poland?**
Allegro. The platform had 15.6 million active buyers in Poland at the end of June 2026 and generated gross merchandise value of almost PLN 70 billion in 2025.

**Can I sell on Allegro as a company from another EU country?**
Yes. Companies from the European Economic Area can register with Allegro. You have to create your listings in Polish, and Allegro then translates them automatically for Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary.

**Is Allegro available outside Poland?**
Only in a few markets: Allegro operates marketplaces in Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. Sellers from other European countries can still sell on Allegro and reach customers in these countries.

**How much does it cost to sell on Allegro?**
Listing products is free. Allegro charges a commission depending on the category, for example 2.5 to 8% for electronics. According to Allegro, new sellers from abroad pay no sales commission for the first 90 days (as of September 2026).

**Do I have to offer my products in Polish?**
Yes. Polish language law requires listings and product information for consumers in Poland to be in Polish, and Allegro only accepts listings in Polish.

**Do I need a Polish VAT number?**
Not necessarily, if you ship from another EU country and use the OSS scheme. As soon as you hold goods in a Polish warehouse, you need a VAT registration in Poland, usually together with Intrastat reporting.
