byrd Expands to Poland

We are thrilled to announce the addition of a new fulfillment location to byrd's European fulfillment network in Poland. Strategically positioned near the German border this location brings significant cost savings and expanded market reach to brands shipping to Germany and beyond.

The Rising Cost Pressure in E-Commerce Logistics

Let's be honest: the past few years have not been easy on e-commerce margins. The inflation shock triggered by the conflict in Ukraine already pushed logistics costs to record highs, and ongoing disruptions in the Middle East have added further fuel to the fire. Major carriers such as DHL have responded with additional surcharges, squeezing brands that are already operating on thin margins.

Cost sensitivity among online retailers has reached a new level. We hear it every day from our clients: keeping fulfillment affordable without compromising delivery quality has become critical. byrd was built to solve exactly this challenge, and our new Poland location is the latest expression of that commitment.

Key Highlights at a Glance

  • 15–25% lower fulfillment costs compared to Germany

  • 1–2 day delivery via direct injection into the German carrier network (DHL, DPD and GLS)

  • Seamlessly integrated with byrd's WMS from day one

Why we are expanding to Poland now

It is no secret that labor costs in Germany are among the highest in Europe. Poland, on the other hand, offers access to a highly skilled and experienced logistics workforce at significantly more competitive rates. At the same time, Poland has developed rapidly as both an economy and a technology hub, making it an ideal environment for a tech-driven fulfillment operation.

The location near the German border is deliberate. By injecting parcels directly into the German carrier network (DHL, DPD, and GLS), we can guarantee 1–2 day delivery to German consumers. That's the same performance brands and their customers expect today when shipping from a warehouse location within Germany, but at a fraction of the cost.

Poland's central European location also opens the door to additional high-growth e-commerce markets. From our new warehouse, brands can efficiently serve not only Germany but also the Baltic states and other emerging Eastern European markets.

We are proud to expand our existing partnership with a trusted global logistics provider for this new location. This approach allows us to combine decades of operational expertise with byrd's technology layer, creating a fulfillment setup that is both scalable and reliable from day one.

Seamlessly integrated with byrd's Network

What truly sets byrd and this expansion apart is the technology behind it. The Poland warehouse runs on byrd's own WMS (Warehouse Management System), meaning it integrates natively into the byrd platform. For brands already working with byrd, activating this new location requires nothing more than a few clicks and brings the following advantages:

Reduce logistics costs with multi-warehousing

Merchants can split inventory across multiple locations and let byrd's platform intelligently route orders to the optimal warehouse to reduce delivery costs and times.

One platform for every location

All inventory, orders, and shipments visible in a single dashboard in real time.

German carrier network injection

Parcels enter the German carrier network (DHL, DPD, and GLS) directly from Poland, preserving 1–2 day delivery at no extra shipping cost.

State-of-the-art WMS

byrd's proprietary WMS drives operations on the ground, guaranteeing the same quality standards across the entire network.

"We are incredibly excited about this new chapter for byrd. Fast-growing brands are under more cost pressure than ever, and our Poland location gives them a real lever to reduce fulfillment costs by 15 to 25 percent compared to Germany without sacrificing the delivery performance their customers demand. This is exactly the kind of solution we set out to build when we founded byrd and we can't wait to see the impact it has for our customers."
